AUSTRALIAN TITLE FIELD SET

The field has been set for the 2017 Australian Solo Speedway Championship Series that will kick off at Gillman Speedway on Wednesday January 4th then move to Mildura’s Olympic Park Speedway on Saturday  January the 7th, round three will be at Undera Park Speedway on Wednesday January the 11th with the championship decider being staged at Kurri Kurri Speedway on Saturday January the 14th.

The Motorcycling Australia Speedway Commission has picked the full sixteen riders plus four reserves which means there will be no qualification meeting this year.

Headlining the list of riders is 2016 World Under 21 Speedway Champion Max Fricke, former Speedway Grand Prix rider Troy Batchelor, 2016 Australian Speedway Champion Brady Kurtz and Speedway World Cup rider Sam Masters.

Other notable names than could win a round or even take out the title are Rohan Tungate, Justin Sedgmen, Nick Morris and Davey Watt.

Unfortunately there will be no Jason Doyle or Chris Holder but the championship itself will be the closely fought championship in years.

Batchelor, Masters, Kurtz, Sedgmen, Tungate and Morris have all at some stage taken out a round of the Australian Championship so it promises to be a very even contest.

Potentially six to eight riders have a realistic chance of taking home the title which will make for some fierce and aggressive racing.

Mildura is well represented in the field along with Justin Sedgmen local young guns Jordan Stewart, Cooper Riordan and Jaimon Lidsey have made the 16 rider field.

List of riders Troy Batchelor, Sam Masters, Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Rohan Tungate, Brady Kurtz, Nick Morris, Jack holder, Davey Watt, Todd Kurtz, mason Campton, Ty Proctor, Josh Pickering, Jordan Stewart, Cooper Riordan and Jaimon Lidsey. Reserves 17. James Davies, 18. Matthew Gilmore, 19. Dakota Ballantyne, 20. Alan McDonald.
