CLUB CELEBRATES 70TH ANNIVERSARY
Mildura Motor Cycle Club will celebrate its 70th Anniversary in fine style over the weekend of November 4th to 6th. Three days of activity will begin from Noon on Saturday 4th November with Registration and sign on, a memorabilia display, videos and a static Motorcycle display at the Clubrooms followed by a modest cost BBQ tea from around 6:30pm.
Members of the public, former members, riders and Officials along with people who have been involved in Motorcycling in the district in any way are all cordially invited to participate in any of the weekend’s planned activities.
The main celebratory event will be the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club, 70th Anniversary Speedway meeting to be held at Olympic Park on Sunday 5th November from 6:00pm.
The unique speedway meeting will see the conduct of the GT Windscreens, Phil Crump International Trophy to be followed by the Riordans Paint and Panel, Gates Sidecar Cup
Both parts of this amazing meeting will see the top riders in the land vying for the prestigious trophies including, current 2017 World Solo Speedway Championship leader, Jason Doyle, Aussie 1, Sam Masters , Aussie 2, Justin Sedgmen with Internationals Tungate, Morris and Branford with Mildura’s regular solo participants including Stewart, Lidsey, Riordan, Davies, Ballantyne and former dual World 250cc Champion, Matt Gilmore.
The Gates Sidecar Cup will have no less than the current World Champions, Monson / Summerhayes, along with dual World Champ, Mick Headland / Brenton Kerr, fellow World Champion and nine times Aussie Champ, Darrin Treloar / Jesse Headland, current
Aussie 1, Trent Headland / Daz Whetstone along with Plaisted, Howse, Hudson, Niesche, the Hartwigs and locals Gates / O’loughlin. Hancock / Johnson and Mayes / Colby.
A Solo legends class with Lemon, McGowan, Stewart and Ferguson will be interspersed in the Phil Crump International Trophy while Classic Sidecars will be the interlude in the Gates Sidecar Cup part of the meeting. All of this action will start at 7:00pm.
The meeting will officially begin at 6:00pm with a Junior speedway as always while displays of old machines will be a feature of the evening.
The 70th Anniversary Dinner will be held at the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club on Monday 6th November where a 2 course meal ($42 – must be pre booked) will be available along with a videos of past Club activities, a “Couch Discussion” with celebrities including Phil Crump, Jason Doyle and other guests making the end of an amazing weekend.
