WORLD CHAMP JOINS CRUMP SHOWDOWN
Newly crowned World Under 21 Speedway Champion Max Fricke is the latest big name to join the 2016 GT onsite windscreens Phil Crump Solo Trophy at Olympic Park Speedway on Friday October the 28th.
The Mansfield native has been in brilliant form over the 2016 season, Fricke won the 3 round World Under 21 Championship last Sunday and becoming only the fifth Australian to do so joining the likes of Steve Baker, Leigh Adams, Jason Crump and Darcy Ward. Fricke was also handed his Speedway World Cup debut by local Mark Lemon this year joining Jason Doyle, Chris Holder and Sam Masters in the four man team.
Fricke is the reigning Phil Crump solo trophy winner after a epic duel with Local racer Justin Sedgmen in last years six lap six rider final. Sedgmen lead for five and a half laps until a classy inside move from Fricke on the last corner snatched victory from the local.
Speaking after his World title win on Sunday Fricke added “To be world champion is a dream come true for everyone who rides speedway, so this is surreal.”
Fricke joins three times Speedway World Champion Jason Crump and local International racers Justin Sedgmen and Cameron Woodward in what promises to be a world class meeting to honour the Godfather of speedway racing in Sunraysia.
