LOCAL TEAMS IN GATES CUP
Gates, Hancock and Mayes
Its only fitting that local Sidecar legend Byren Gates and his brother in law Michael O’Loughlin are the first sidecar team to put there name down in the Inaugural Gates Sidecar Cup being held in conjunction with the Phil Crump International Solo trophy at Olympic Park Speedway on Sunday November the 5th.
A trophy dedicated to the long lasting connection of the Gates Family and the Mildura Motorcycle Club Byren and Micky O will be going all out to take home the first Gates Cup.
The Gator is always near the pointy end of the field in any meeting around Olympic Park having won many local events, winning and placing in countless state championships and riding in many Australian Sidecar Championships coming fifth in the last Australian Championship decider at Mildura. Plus a career highlight coming 4th in the 2011 World Sidecar Championship with brother Devon in the chair.
Joining Gates and O’Loughlin in the field will be local Dads Army team in Neale Hancock and Brendan Johnson who have become one of the most improved sidecar outfits in Australia and Clint Mayes and Sean Coleby now after two seasons back in the business will be looking to put together a good performance in this new prestigious event.
Local World Sidecar Champions Warren Monson and Andrew Summerhayes are expected to confirm there participation in the next few weeks with Monson just juggling his work commitments so they can make the event.
