Local World Champs Mean Business
Local World Sidecar Speedway Champions Warren Monson and Andrew Summerhayes have confirmed there participation in the Mildura Motorcycle Club 70th Anniversary meeting on Sunday November the 5th at Olympic Park Speedway.
The local team took all before them last year winning the FIM Speedway Sidecar World Cup and Oceania Sidecar Championships plus a third place finish in the Australian Sidecar Championships on borrowed machinery after there bike… was written off.
The Monson/Summerhayes team will headline the inaugural Noddy Riordans Paint and Panel Gates Sidecar Cup a bit of silverware that Monson would dearly like to win as he formed a strong partnership with Devon Gates and having raced against Byren Gates for many years.
Monson and Summerhayes will be taking on Australia’s best sidecar teams in former World Champ Mick Headland, Rick Howse, Mark Plaisted, Shane Hudson and local Icon Byren Gates.
It will be the first time local patrons will get to see Monson and Summerhayes at Olympic Park as World Champions.
Mildura Motorcycle Club president Neale Hancock added “It’s great that we have our local world sidecar champions in the 70th anniversary meeting. Warren and Andrew are always at the top of the field around Olympic Park and will start the meeting as favourites. It also gives the local fans to congratulate them on there recent success””.
With Monson and Summerhayes taking part and World Solo Championship leader Jason Doyle riding in the Gt Windscreens Phil Crump Solo Trophy part of the 70th Anniversary meeting there’s a very real possibility that the World Champions in both the solo and sidecar categories will be racing on the night.
