HEADLAND/KERR WIN SHOOTOUT
Local passenger Brenton Kerr teamed up with South Australian rider Mick Headland to win the Dudley Bradshaw Sidecar shootout at Mildura’s Olympic Park speedway on Saturday night.
It was a keenly contested final with the combination defeating former winners Byren Gates and Mick O’Loughlin with the brother and sister pair of Arron and Teagan Hartwig third.
Fourth place went to the Broken Hill combination of Darren Howse and Jack Wheeler.
After the heats Gates and O’Loughlin had finished with 12 points, Headland/Kerr had 11, the Hartwig’s nine points and Howse/Wheeler with eight points.
Howse edged out local President Neale Hancock, who had also finished with eight points.
Earlier in the night Mildura passenger Jaeben Underhill was slightly injured when Luke Gammon’s bike dug in and flipped.
He received a cut to the face but the pair could not continue as their bike had been damaged in the crash,
Most of Australia’s top side car racing teams will be in action at Gillman Speedway next Saturday night with the next Olympic Park meeting being the Curley Carmes Side Car Spectacular on Saturday March 3.
Visitors took the prize money in the second round of the Flat Track racing with Logan Coombe of Broken Hill winning with 26 points from South Australia’s Jesse Headland, who finished with 25 points while Cec Fraser of Broken Hill was third with 21 points.
