Woodward Set for Olympic Park Return

Mildura International Cameron Woodward is set for his long awaited Olympic Park Speedway return in the 2016 Gt Onsite Windscreens Phil Crump Solo Trophy on Friday October the 28th.

Woodward hasn’t rode at Olympic Park since the start of 2014 and his long awaited return is a boost to solo racing in Sunraysia.

Woodward, who has been sidelined for the last two years since crashing in Poland in September 2014 where he sustained a broken leg.

On Friday week he will be riding against class opposition in the Phil Crump Solo Trophy meeting where he will take on three times World Speedway Champion Jason Crump, World Under 21 Champion Max Fricke, Australian Speedway World Cup star Sam Masters and local rival Justin Sedgmen.

Woodward was the inaugural winner of the Phil Crump Solo Trophy in 2014 seeing off Justin Sedgmen and Max Fricke in the six lap six rider final.

Woodward will also race at the Gillman Speedway the next night.

“I haven’t got anything planned beyond that,” Woodward said. “I am looking forward to it but I am a little nervous because its been such a long time.”

“I’ve had a few practice rides but that’s not a real test – I will see how it all stands up by racing at these meetings.”

“This week I will be working on fitness,” Woodward said. “The time I have been out on the track on practice riding I have become a little tired.”
