Side Cars Racing - Mildura Motorcycle Club

TWO ACTION PACKED NIGHTS

sidecars-8 Top action in a post Christmas meeting at Mildura’s Olympic Park Speedway will feature good Sidecar racing in the Kelly Panel Refinishers, Dudley Bradshaw Memorial, Sidecar Shootout, to be held on TUESDAY 27th December and then, just three night’s later top Solo Speedway action will be seen with the conduct of the Hoggies Wines Estates, Jason Lyons Trophy, where the best of Australia’s solo exponents will be seen in action.

KPR Sidecar Shootout, Tuesday 27thh December Two groups of seven Sidecar teams will run in four programmed heats, with the top four teams in each side of the program to contest a semi final from where the top two teams from each Semi final will go into the KPR Dudley Bradshaw Memorial Shootout Final. Top nominations have been received from the three main Speedway Sidecar States with local Champion, Warren Monson / Andrew Summerhayes heading the stack, with Waikerie’s Arron and Teagan Hartwig and locals, Clint Mayes / Sean Coleby, Neale Hancock / Brendan Johnston and AJ Pearce/ Eli Bock giving them some “hurry up”. The Anderson boys, Luke and Sam, from Shepparton and regular Melbourne visitor, Paul Donnelly / Jake Roberts will also be keen to keep the other six teams honest. The second group is headed by Sydney’s Shane Hudson / Eli Wright and SA pairs, Damian Niesche / Mitch Spear,  Klae Hobbs / Liam Cock and Rick Fechner / Can White, with Broken Hill’s Darren Howse / Kyle Jarvis, Sydneysider, Brad Pitt / Nathan McFadden and locals Nathan Cock / Jack Wilson rounding out a very competitive group. Both groups are evenly matched and it will be an interesting contest for patrons to keep their eye on which team might make it through into the Shootout Final. Form of all riders has been good since the start of the year, so we expect some good individual contests. Support events will be the introduction of the Mildura Flat Track Masters. Mildura has an excellent standard of Dirt Track riders, so a Flat Track contest will be well received by patrons, as, with so many riders on the grid, there is something to watch at all times. The famous Mildura, Waters Brothers, Rohan Tegart, former Victorian Sidecar Champion, Jason Bradshaw, youngster Luke Bacskai, passenger in the main event, Jake Roberts, Brad Lohmann, Danny Glen and dual World Sidecar Champion passenger, Jesse Headland, will all be pulling out every stop to ensure success in the six heats of racing. A good purse has been offered, so riders will be keen on getting amongst the $$$’s to assist with the Christmas debts. It is interesting to see the diverse range of riders in the Flat Track Masters section, with many of them having a speedway background. Brodie Waters will ride in the Australian Solo Titles and Luke Bacskai is a regular solo rider at Mildura. Jason Bradshaw, who prior to an injury about four years ago, was in the top flight of Sidecars in Mildura. The other lads who are taking their chance tonight are Jake Roberts, a passenger in the main event and Jesse Headland, who. Whilst being a dual World Sidecar Champion has ridden for some time with his father Mick, until a serious injury last season has forced Jesse from the Sidecar this season until he regains full fitness. A small field of Classic Sidecars headed by Sydney rider and former Aussie Sidecar Champion, Greg Griffiths, who will have his son, Nathan McFadden, double up with him on his Classic 750cc Water Cooled Suzuki as well as passenger for Brad Pitt in the main event. Regular visitor, Steve Lewis, with Sean Chapman in the chair, will also front local rider, Dale Milner, who will have newcomer Andy Airey in his chair. All three Classic machines are using the 750cc two stroke Suzuki powerplant, the engine which revolutionised Sidecar Speedway in the 1970’s. Gates will open at Olympic Park at the regular time of 5:00pm. A Junior program is set to commence around 6:00pm, with Senior racing to begin at 7:30pm. Olympic Park offers a full catering service and advises that there must be no BYO by law. Great grandstand accommodation is available free of charge or patrons may take advantage of using the grassy banks with a chair or a rug.
