SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX RIDER HEADLINES AUSTRALIAN SOLO TITLE

2015 Speedway Grand Prix rider Troy Batchelor will headline the 2016 Australian Solo Championship Series that will kick off on Saturday January the 2nd in Kurri Kurri New South Wales, the final round of the championship will be staged at Olympic Park Speedway Mildura on Sunday January the 10th.

2013 Australian Champion Batchelor will be eagerly keen to win another Australian Championship so he can force a claim to re-join the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix Series after missing out on a spot for the 2016 series. The top 4 riders in the championship series will get the chance to try and win a spot in 2017 Speedway Grand Prix series.

Mildura rider Justin Sedgmen is one of the seeded riders straight into the championship by virtue of his third place finish last season. Sedgmen added “It’s great to be seeded into another Australian Championship hopefully I can have a good series and push for the win especially with the final round being in Mildura hopefully there is a big crowd”.

Other notable names that are seeded straight into the championship are Speedway Grand Prix wildcard Sam Masters, three times Australian under 21 Champion Max Fricke and Australian Speedway World Cup rider Nick Morris.

Other seeded riders are internationals Rohan Tungate, Josh Grajzonek, Ty Proctor and Mason Campton.

The other seven positions and the reserves will be decided in a qualifier at Kurri Kurri New South Wales on new years day.

The others to participate in the qualifying round are locals Jordan Stewart and Cooper Riordan, Brady Kurtz, Tyler King (Qld), Mathew Day (Qld), Alan MacDonald, Joshua MacDonald, Brodie Waters (Mildura) , Kieran Sproule  (NSW), Josh Coyne (NSW), Jack Holder (NSW), Dakota Ballantyne (SA), Josh Pickering, Taylor Poole (NSW), Kames Dimmock,  and Joey Ringwood (NSW).

Round 2 will be at Undera Park Speedway Shepparton on Wednesday January 6th and round 3 will be at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide on January the 8th.
